UMMUL MU’MINEEN HAZRAT KHADEEJAH (R.A):-
The Prophet’s first marriage was to Hazrat Khadeejah (R.A), who was a widow. At that time, the age of the “Holy Prophet was 25 years and Hazrat Khadeejah was 40″.
According to some sayings, Hazrat Khadeejah married two people first and had children with them. The Holy Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) loved Hazrat Khadeejah (R.A) so much that he never married another woman in his life.
She was there for 25 years with Prophet (S.A.W) and she passed away at the age of 65. The Holy Prophet (S.A.W) was deeply saddened by her death.
UMMUL MU’MINEEN HAZRAT AYESHA (R.A) ):-
Hazrat Ayesha (R.A) got married in Shawwal. Ayesha (R.A.) was 6 years old. She was the only young (virgin) among the all wives and all the rest were widows.
Hazrat Ayesha (R.A) was born four years after Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) received prophethood.
When she was 9 years old, she went to Prophet’s (S.A.W) house (Rukhsati). She was the favorite wife of the Prophet (PBUH) and he loved her very much.
When Hazrat Ayesha (R.A) was 18 years old, the Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) passed away. At the age of 66. Hazrat Ayesha passed away. She was buried in Jannatul-Baqee.
UMMUL MU’MINEEN HAZRAT SAUDAH (R.A):-
Hazrat Saudah (R.A) was also married in the month of Shawwal. She is also a widow. There is a difference in the name of who got married first Hazrat Ayesha (R.A) or Hazrat Saudah (R.A).
Some historians said Ayesha (R.A) and others said Hazrat Saudah. She had already married her cousin Sukran bin Umar.
When their first husband died, some days later she got married to Prophet Muhammed (PBUH). Hazrat Saudah passed away in the year 54-55 and some have written that he passed away during the last caliphate of Hazrat Umar (R.A).
The first three marriages performed by the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) were all before the Hijrat, and the rest all the marriages were performed after the Hijrat.
UMMUL MU’MINEEN HAZRAT HAFSAH (R.A):-
After Hazrat Ayesha (R.A) Prophet (S.A.W) married Hazrat Hafsah (R.A). She was born in Mecca, five years before Prophethood. Hazrat Hafsah (R.A.) first married Khuneis bin Huzaifa (R.A.) in Makkah. Khuneis bin Huzaifa (may God be pleased with him) received such a wound in the battle of Badr or Uhud and passed away.
The Prophet (PBUH) married Hafsah (R.A). Hazrat Hafsah (may Allah be pleased with her) was a pious and worshipper woman. She used to wake up often at night and used to fast frequently.
For some reason, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) also gave him a divorce, which caused great pain to Hazrat Umar (R A).
Hazrat Jibraeel (A.S.) came and said, “Allah Almighty has said that Hafsah (R.A.) should be referred. She is awake at night and fasts a lot – that’s why Prophet (S.A.W) was referred to Hafsah (R.A.). She passed away in Madinah when she was 63 years old.
UMMUL MU’MINEEN HAZRAT ZAINAB BINT KHUZAIMA (R.A):-
After Hazrat Hafsah (may Allah be pleased with her) the Prophet (peace be upon him) married Hazrat Zainab (may Allah be pleased with her) – first he was married to Abdullah bin Jahsh (may Allah be pleased with him) – he was martyred in the Battle of Uhud.
Among the wives of the Prophet (peace be upon him). Hazrat Khadeejah and Hazrat Zainab bint Khuzimah (R.A) are the only two wives who passed away in front of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).
The remaining 9 wives were at the time of the death of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) was alive. Hazrat Zainab was very generous – that’s why her name in Islam was Ummul-Masakeen – Mother of the Poor.
Hazrat Zainab, may Allah be pleased with her, was married to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) for 8 months
UMMUL MU’MINEEN HAZRAT UMME SALMAH (R.A):-
Hazrat Umme Salmah (R.A) was the daughter of Abu Umayyah (R.A) her first marriage was with her cousin Abu Salama (R.A). After the death of Abu Salmah (R.A) the Holy Prophet (PBUH) married Umme Salmah. Hazrat Umme Salmah (may Allah be pleased with her) was the last among the dead. Ummul Mu’mineen passed away at the age of 84 years.
UMMUL MU’MINEEN HAZRAT ZAINAB BINTE JAHASH (RA):-
Hazrat Zainab bint Jahsh (R.A) was the maternal sister of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). After the divorce of Hazrat Zayd bin Haritha, Allah himself married the Holy Prophet, which is mentioned in Surah Al-Ahzab.
Ummul Mu’mineen Zainab bint Jahsh (may Allah be pleased with her) was generous and hardworking. Passed away at the age of 50 yrs. Hazrat Umar (R.A.) led the funeral prayer.
UMMUL MU’MINEEN HAZRAT JAVERIYAH BINTE AL HAARIS (RA) :-
Hazrat Javeriyah (may Allah be pleased with her) came as a prisoner in a battle. Before her imprisonment, she was married to Mustafa bin Safwan, after whom the Prophet (PBUH) married her. Passed away at the age of 56 yrs.
UMMUL MU’MINEEN HAZRAT UMME HABEEBAH (R.A) :-
Ummul Mu’mineen Hazrat Umme Habeebah (R.A) was the daughter of Abu Sufyan. Her first marriage was with Abdullah bin Jahsh (R.A) in Makkah – then she was married to Prophet (PBUH).
UMMUL MU’MINEEN HAZRAT SAFIYYAH (R.A) :-
Hazrat Safiyyah (R.A) was the daughter of Huey, who is one of the descendants of Haroon, the brother of Hazrat Musa (peace be upon him). Hazrat Safiyyah was the daughter of a chief. Prophet (peace be upon him) married her. She passed away at the age of 60 years.
UMMUL MU’MINEEN HAZRAT MAIMUNAH (R.A) :-
Ummul Mu’mineen Hazrat Maimunah (R.A) was the daughter of Haaris bin Hujra. Ayesha (R.A) says that Maimunah (R.A) was the most pious and compassionate among us all. She passed away at the age of 81 years.
